Jeter Gets Rave Reviews for Performance


We got used to the histrionics employed by soccer players during the World Cup. But as “A League of Their Own” taught us, there’s no crying in baseball. Apparently, Derek Jeter ignored the memo. Ben Shpigel of the New York Times has a great analysis of Jeter’s performance the other night when he pretended to get hit by a pitch. He says Sports Illustrated?s reigning ?Sportsman of the Year may have angered some angered with his acting but he also did something quite novel: He approached “the boundaries of baseball?s unwritten rules without actually going beyond them.”
